I painted this tiny painting awaiting the moonrise at Newcomb Hollow ocean beach in Wellfleet, MA, on Cape Cod, on the last night of my time there. I had the odd sensation of being on a new planet, and was reminded of an Italo Calvino story, "The Distance of the Moon." The moonrise itself was too beautiful to paint; I did a sketch, then stopped for the day.
